Eighteen Thousand Islands

The story of Eighteen Thousand Islands began in the summer of 2002, when we set up our charcoal grill every Wednesday night at the Queen Victoria Night Market in Melbourne. We had massive queues waiting to taste our delicious peanut sauce - our grandmother’s recipe from West Java. It was so successful we opened two hugely popular satay eateries in the Melbourne CBD, which we sold in 2012. Whilst satay may be our first love, our West Javanese grandmother engrained in us the importance of food as the lifeblood and celebration of family and we now look forward to exploring and sharing more Indonesian food, and our grandmother’s cooking, through our products and recipes.
